2016 Christmas Open House at The Shoppes

Every year I host a Christmas Open House at my shop in Ocilla, GA.  This event has grown and grown and has become the thing I look most forward to! On the 2nd Sunday in November the shop is flooded with folks who are excited to ring in the Holiday season and are especially excited about a fun time to gather together and visit with each other.

Every year I choose a different theme and my merry crew and I go to work planning the details! This year we had a twenties themed party and invited everyone to come and "have a roaring good time"! We plan for this event throughout the year, ordering most of our Christmas merchandise in January and then working on various behind-the-scenes projects.  The closer it gets to the date, the later the work nights become!  The shop is closed the day before the event and all the decorating takes place that day.  I like to save as much as I can for the last minute so the shop looks totally different when folks come through the doors on Sunday.  Though, it is an exhausting undertaking, it is so worth the final product! I could not do it without the hard work of my sweet family, friends and Shoppes team members that work tirelessly alongside me! It brings me great joy to see the happiness and excitement on the faces of all those who enter my doors here, and it is that joy that drives me to push myself to do it again year after year!

You can see that the finished product is well worth all of the hard work!

I have been saving these vintage elevator signs for two years, just for this Christmas and boy, were they worth the wait!

Thanks so much to any of you local fans that joined us on Sunday! Wasn't it such a fun day?  I hope you all enjoy these beautiful pictures; maybe it will give you a little inspiration for your upcoming holiday parties!

This year, we had a very special guest at Open House.  One of our online Southern Mercantile friends made the trip to Ocilla to check out the festivities.  Mrs. Juni, you just don't know what a blessing you were to Tara, Jorjanne, and me on Sunday. We were all three teary-eyed at the end of the night as Jorj told the story of you talking with her while in line.  Thank you for taking the time to join us, to speak to each of us and to encourage us.  It means the world to know that people are reading, enjoying and feeling part of our community!  Thank you!

It is so fun to be part of the team effort at the shoppes. Roxie keeps me out of trouble and pushes my imagination to help achieve her theam for that year. I love the challenge and I love our shoppes family!
