I have not always felt at home in this small town. I have lived here my whole life but have only recently gained an appreciation for this close-knit environment. . I think we small-towners sometimes take our community for granted. We are with each other every day and don’t really appreciate each other until the going gets rough. Now, I believe everyone should get the chance to be a part of a community like this. The older I get, the more I realize that my community is what I make it. I get to choose who I spend my time with. I get to seek out “my people” and create a close network of friends and family. I have also realized that my community may include folks that are different from me. These are people that I accept and love as they are, and they love me the same way. That is true community.
I am so excited to be able to share my community with you! I hope you will visit with us often and become a part of our community at The Southern Mercantile!
